Hi folks. October was a busy month for us. Stopped at numerous creeks along both sides of the Bay, bought a generator (Honda 1000EU), changed the refrigeration unit (bought and installed a Frigoboat air-cooled unit after investigating several brands at the boat show), and purchased some OCENS weather software for downloading grib files, etc.
We volunteered at the Seven Seas Cruising Association (SSCA) gam (seminar, etc.) which was held in Annapolis during the boat show, and even met two couples from the Buffalo area who were down for the gam and boat show. We spent a couple of days at the boat show (largest in-water boat show in the country), spending most of our time looking at various accessories. We bought a small anchor light, which only uses 0.110 amps per hour and is light activated so it turns on automatically, allowing us to not worry about returning to the boat quite so much at dusk. We also bought a small gadget which uses stainless steel wire to wrap hoses in lieu of radiator-style clamps. We also bought Crocs (look 'em up, you'll love them for on the boat or walking).
We've headed south toward the ICW, again stopping at various creeks or rivers for overnight anchorages. Just yesterday we had winds of up to 35 mph and waves in the 3 - 6 foot range. Water even came right over the bow and washed it! Today we're in Jackson Creek, and the town of Deltaville, VA, using the local library (we've tried before but some library systems won't allow access to our website, sorry). Tomorrow we head for Hampton Roads, Norfolk, etc., and points south.
We still need to get another survey (they're normally only valid for a couple years) for a new insurance company (for cruising to the Caribbean and Florida, read "dangerous" waters). That's the next big project. Darn, too much work and not enough play (yet!!).
Oh, in the evening we can get the WKBW (Buffalo, NY) radio station, which plays oldies of the 50's and 60's! Joey Reynolds, Sandy Beach, Danny Neaverth, et al. Can't seem to find many good local stations, though. Haven't tried television much, maybe in the Norfolk area. Too many other things to repair, install, clean, books to read (we've each read about 8 or 10), etc.
We're having fun and hope you are too. No snow yet, although we did have one morning at about 40 degrees (just add blankets, no heater). Gotta go someplace south, where it's warmer!! Byeeeeeee
